Oishi-san has recently been reworking his iconic 14oz fabric that he launched over 20 years ago and which established the brand as a benchmark in Japanese denim. In this new version, he has chosen an indigo color for the warp and a beige for the weft. Reminiscent of the brand's first-generation ONI denim, these 14oz jeans feature the same original texture that revolutionized denim, elevating slubby denim to prominence. Crafted from short staple American cotton, they can only be produced on a specially prepared power loom, known for its slow output and frequent need for repairs. This new version of the classic is achieved through numerous baths of indigo rope-dyed yarns in the warp and beige dyed yarns in the weft.
The neat straight cut boasts a timeless, clean silhouette with straight legs and minimal taper for the best balance. These jeans feature premium details such as copper buttons, high-quality pocket bags, heavy-duty bar tacks, a custom veg-tanned cowhide leather patch, and a fresh pocket flasher created specifically for this model.
This model have a standard sizing. We recommend choosing your usual size. However, as always, we recommend checking the size chart first to find your perfect size. It is unsanforized but one washed, so there will be no shrinkage. The waist will experience the typical stretching seen in ONI denim due to the low tension weave, although not as much as the secret denim. Expect approximately 1 inches of stretching.
The legend of ONI is alive to this day. In recent years Oishi-San has devoted himself to experimenting with widely varying grammages, rough textures, different indigo dyeing techniques and novelty cuts while always maintaining a very limited production and wielding his experience in denim which now goes back more than 60 years.
